When a person goes to work in Chaska, Minnesota, he or she has the right to do so without worrying about the possibility of being harassed or abused in any way. Sexual harassment has become an especially worrisome issue in recent years, but all too often it goes unreported because victims worry about losing their jobs. Sexual harassment can include verbal or physical harassment that is sexual in nature along with unwanted sexual advances and asking for sexual favors, especially when a job advancement or other employee perk is offered in exchange.

She wasn’t long into her new job when a 23-year-old woman began being the subject of unwanted sexual advances from her assistant manager. The woman recently filed a lawsuit against her former boss in which she accused him of sexual harassment. Starbucks would not comment on the pending suit, but says that they do not tolerate harassment at work.

The woman says the week she began working as a barista at a Starbucks in New York City, her assistant manager demanded that she have sex with him and told her she should call him ‘daddy’. She claims that last month her boss caught her in a stairwell where he began to kiss her neck and grope her. When she began to scream, he let her go.

Although the woman reported the attack to her superiors, she says the manager of the Starbucks called and reprimanded her for doing so.

If you have been the victim of sexual harassment in the workplace, you may wish to consult with an attorney experienced in employment law.
