Former Tinder executive sues for sexual harassment

We’ve come a long way as a society in Chaska, Minnesota from the days where women were routinely devaluated and made to feel inferior in the workplace. However, we are still a long ways from perfect. There are still jobs where women are not as valued as their male counterparts.

A 24-year-old woman who says she helped establish the popular dating app Tinder is suing the company and its majority owner for discrimination and sexual harassment. She says that the other founders of the company refused to recognize her because of her young age and the fact that she was a woman. They told her that the company would be devalued if she was listed as a founder.

The woman also says she endured sexual harassment and inappropriate comments from the company’s chief executive and chief marketing officer. When she complained about it to Tinder’s majority owner, she says they did nothing to remedy the situation and she had to resign.

In her lawsuit, the woman is seeking millions of dollars in lost compensation and equity in the company. An internal investigation that is being performed on the company has so far found that the chief marketing officer did indeed send inappropriate private messages to the woman.

If you have been the victim of discrimination or harassment in the workplace because of your gender, you do not have to put up with it. You would be well advised to seek out the help of an attorney to discuss your case.
